Hi, my name is Emma.
I was inspired to create my own webpage when I explored that of one of my closest friends. I was impressed by the caring and thoughtful atmosphere of the blog, and proud that she achieved something so special and positive, sharing her thoughts and struggles in order to help others, as well as herself.
I have this perpetual thirst to learn new things, to explore the unknown, and particularly to discuss new concepts, ideas, thoughts and opinions. Early this year I have faced severe depression and anxiety. Though it has helped me develop as a person, I would not go back there for the world. But during the recovery process I have learned a lot about myself, others, communities and relationships, acceptance, and solving problems.
I realised that the things I learned during this (unpleasant) time would have been invaluable knowledge to me during my younger years. It came as a surprise to me that most of the workshops I did were discussion based, and a lot of the content was common sense- just not stuff that I'd have thought of myself. Since then, I've developed the opinion that children should be taught these things from an early age, in school. They aren't secrets- it's just that the system hasn't adapted to our society's growing need for support in mental health (and growing up).
On this site, I plan to blog some of my knowledge and post positive and uplifting pictures, quotes and ideas. The blog will have a focus on mental health and wellbeing. I believe that the key to change is education and understanding. I hope to promote these two things- and, if I can, to create a better future for myself or even the people around me.
Love always,
Em
